Battle Bend Springs Beautification: a Roots & Wings and It's My Park Day Crossover Event!

  • Battle Bend Neighborhood Park 121 Sheraton Avenue Austin, TX, 78745 United States (map)

Howdy South Austinites! Join us at Battle Bend Springs Neighborhood Park on Saturday morning, November 4th, for a special Roots & Wings Festival AND It's My Park Day crossover event!

This rewarding volunteer event requires pre-registration, so reserve your spot today!

This unique park has undergone extensive riparian restoration work to protect the natural spring, clean stormwater from upstream development, and improve water quality in Williamson Creek, and we will be supporting PARD's and WPD's efforts in these areas by establishing a wildflower meadow along the creek. A wildflower meadow is a specially designated park feature that helps with water filtration, stabilizes soil and reduces erosion along the bank, and - OF COURSE - supports native pollinators like the monarch butterfly!

Long story short, we're having a seedball party! We will be using a special recipe to make seedballs containing a mix of native wildflowers, including milkweed. We will have everything you need to make your own seedballs and toss them into the soon-to-be meadow. With proper long-term care (mark your calendars for It's My Park Day SPRING!), this park will soon be teeming with native pollinators and alive with one of Texas' most colorful features, wildflowers.

Food, drink, and general party vibes will be included. There will also be monarch crafts and activities, as well as lots of swag to take home! We hope you join us!

This event also takes place on It's My Park Day, Austin Parks Foundation’s biannual, community-led day of service occurring every Spring and Fall.

Street parking is available along Suburban Dr. and within the neighborhoods across from the park. There are no bathrooms on site.
